In 2012 choreographer Anouk van Dijk will be appointed as artistic director of Chunky Move, the main dance company of Melbourne and one of the most well-known contemporary dance companies of Australia. Anouk van Dijk will be the successor of Gideon Obarzanek, who founded the company in 1995.
Chunky Move has a wide function in the city of Melbourne and the state of Victoria: the company produces work by the artistic director and next to that has an extensive activity program consisting of facilitating every year an artist-in-residence, supporting young artists and providing workshops and dance classes for the dance community in Melbourne and Victoria all year long. Anouk van Dijk will produce her work at Chunky Move and head all the artistic activities.
