anoukvandijk dc
Anoukvandijk dc is the dance company directed by Anouk van Dijk. Her passionate yet contemplative work offers an insight into the way we try to hold our ground in the complex world in which we live.
Into her layered and expressive dance performances she works questions about the fickle nature of our existence, major changes in society, and the individual’s unrestricted desires and ambitions. Through her work Anouk van Dijk stimulates her audiences’ ratio as well as their emotions, and invites them to fantasize with her and reflect upon their own being.

A position that is further strengthened by the fact that Anouk van Dijk is the only Dutch choreographer to have developed her own movement system, the Countertechnique. She not only applies this system in her choreographies, but the teaching technique that goes with it has found its way to students and dancers across the world.
Anoukvandijk dc presents its performances in theatres across the Netherlands and at popular festivals such as de Parade, Oerol, and the Holland Dance festival. The company’s work also enjoys a great deal of international interest: over the past few years the company has toured across Europe, North America, Asia, Australia and Russia. Creating international co-productions has also become one of the core activities. Anouk van Dijk recently created the performance TRUST with theatre director Falk Richter, co-produced by the Schaubuhne am Leniner Platz in Berlin; before this, in 2007, anoukvandijk dc produced the performance Women of the World in collaboration with the Beijing Modern Dance Company.
Anoukvandijk dc receives financial support from the Performing Arts Fund and the City of Amsterdam.
