birgit gunzl
The Viennese Birgit Gunzl was trained as a dancer at the ArTEZ Dance Academy in Arnhem. After her graduation she became one of The Netherlands' most sought-after freelance dancers. She danced with several companies such as Hans Hof Ensemble, Wim Vandekeybus' Ultima Vez, Rogie & Company and choreographer Dylan Newcomb. More recently she worked with director Boukje Schweigman in her production Wiek. With her impressive physical abilities and her desire to always broaden her horizon, Birgit Gunzl fits perfectly in our company. Birgit Gunzl has been with the company since 2002 and is in the meantime also a teacher of Anouk van Dijk's Countertechnique. Next to her dancing career, Birgit Gunzl recently started her education to be an osteopath.
Within anoukvandijk dc new things keep happening. This makes me constantly grow as a dancer and a performer. The development of the Countertechnique is a big part in that. I find the subtle theatricality within Anouk's performances very attractive. Anoukvandijk dc is also a very diverse company. I get to dance, to teach, to travel and to give workshops all over the world.
